Inflammation Overview

Inflammation overview
Did you know that all ailments in the body point to inflammation.

Whether they stem from inflammation, or generate inflammation, inflammation is the leading factor that will make or break your health.

Inflammation is the body’s response to the healing process.  So pretty much ANYTHING can cause inflammation; being sick, hurting yourself, disease, food sensitivities, exposure to irritants and allergens, and the list goes on.

When you experience inflammation, you may notice it on the outside, such as swelling, joint pain, or even flu-like symptoms.  But what’s happening on the inside is even more important.

The presence of inflammation causes your white blood cells to release a chemical to protect that part of your body from foreign invaders.  Essentially, it’s creating a fortress to protect that area so that it can heal and prevent further damage.

What people don’t realize is that inflammation is a natural and GOOD response.  HOWEVER, prolonged inflammation can cause long term problems and disease.  That’s why it’s important to uncover the root of inflammation in the body and treat the source, not only treat the symptoms of inflammation.

At Regen IV Wellness, we consider ourselves inflammation EXPERTS.  That’s because everything we stand to treat is in some way connected to inflammation in the body.

We will uncover the root of your inflammation and customize a health plan so you can tackle that inflammation and know your triggers.

Schedule an appointment with us TODAY to uncover the source of inflammation in your body.  The symptoms and concerns you have in your body begin at a root cause.  Let us identify that for you so you can begin living a better quality of life.

7 Ways to Treat Inflammation at Home

There are some simple ways you can treat inflammation at home.  Try incorporating these simple changes into your healthier lifestyle.
  • Reduce alcohol consumption.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Manage stress.
  • Get regular physical activity.
  • Eat an anti-inflammatory diet which includes foods like: tomatoes. olive oil, leafy green veggies, nuts, fatty fish, berries.
  • Avoid foods that trigger inflammation: refined foods, fried foods, table sugar, processed meats and red meat, saturated fats.
  • Incorporate an inflammation supplement regimen: curcumin, turmeric, capsaicin, omega 3 fatty acids

Just making these changes, one at a time, can GREATLY improve your health, not only with decreased inflammation, but in all areas of your body health.

Anti-Inflammatory Diet Recipe

Inflammation anti-inflammatory diet
Eating an anti-inflammatory diet doesn’t mean eating gets boring.  In fact, we dislike the word “diet” because of the negative impression that goes along with it.

Ultimately, an anti-inflammatory diet means eat the natural, nutritious foods and stay away for the unnatural un-nutritious foods.

Since the soups, strews, and chilis season is coming up, we thought we’d share this delicious lentil soup recipe adapted from EatingWell.  It’s anything BUT boring.

Try it out for yourself and let us know what you think.  Share with lentil-loving friends and save this recipe for your regular rotation.

Anti-Inflammatory Lentil Soup

Ingredients
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1 cup chopped yellow onion
1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup chopped turnip
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
6 cups low-sodium vegetable broth
2 cups brown lentils, rinsed
¾ teaspoon salt
5 cups fresh baby spinach
1 ½ tablespoons balsamic vinegar
3 radishes, cut into matchsticks
¼ cup packed fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves

Instructions
  1. Heat a dutch oven or stew pot over medium heat.  Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the cooker; heat until shimmering.
  2. Add onion, carrots, turnip and thyme; cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in broth, lentils and salt.
  4. Simmer for 30 minutes
  5. Stir in spinach and vinegar until spinach is wilted.
  6. Toss radishes and parsley with the remaining 1 tablespoon oil in a small bowl.
