GI Issues - The Healing Reset Podcast

Gut issues podcast
Recently, our founder, Jose Baldazo, was recently interviewed on The Healing Reset podcast.  The podcast topic is something Jose is an expert in discussing…GI Issues.

GI disorders are not easy to deal with.

They can greatly affect your quality of life and make it difficult for you to do everyday tasks such as eating out or spending time with friends.

This, of course, can have consequences on your mental health and lead to issues such as anxiety and depression.

In the US alone, more than three quarters of the population deal with GI problems daily. These issues can run from mild heartburn to more complicated diseases, such as celiac or Crohn’s.

So, how can you treat your GI disorders?

Let’s dive into some of the questions Jose answers in The Healing Reset Podcast episode. “Here’s the answer to all your GI Issues”

What are the most common GI issues?

It can be anything from mycotoxins to post COVID syndrome, to food sensitivities, gluten and leaky gut, it encompasses a wide range of disorders.

How do you address GI issues?

We focus on finding out the root cause of it. Typically we do gut testing and stool samples, then based on those results, we come up with a treatment plan to address your concerns.

Why a stool sample?

It gives us a really good readout on your microbiome. Good bacteria versus bad bacteria. Bacterial overgrowth.  It’ll tell us if you have intestinal dysbiosis also known as leaky gut. It'll also give us a readout on any potential pathogens. You might have undiagnosed viruses, parasites, fungus, bacteria, or other issues.  It’ll also l give us a roadmap to repopulate, revive and reinoculate your GI with good bacteria.

What percentage of the population do you think struggles with GI issues?

Oh, at any given point, it can be probably 60 to 80% of the population.

What does a Gut Health treatment plan look like?

It starts with a stool test.  And then we map out where to go next based on you as a person. We don’t just treat the symptoms, which is common in the conventional medicine world. Many medicines that are used to treat the symptoms of gut issues are actually making it worse.  And since the relief from these meds is temporary, more needs to be taken to get relief.  At Regen IV Wellness, we believe in pinpointing the root cause and addressing the issues there. Ultimately, you're not going to get to the root of the problem unless you do some testing, stool analysis, maybe some mycotoxin testing, to look at what can be causing the disruption in the imbalance.

Once we complete testing, we look at the reports that give us a specific readout on probiotics that you would need based on your results, as also a list of supplements that would help with your GI issues.

So that's kind of where we bridge the two even symptomology. We treat it differently.

Why don’t you prescribe a drug to help with relief?

We don't throw GERD medications or constipation medications at you. We'll knock out any potential pathogens that could be causing the disruption.

And this is an intentional thing. Pills might make the symptoms go away. It might suppress symptoms, but we never understand the stool composition or if it’s parasites, or viral.

It could just be an imbalance in your microbiome. Instead of knowing what is going on, why is this patient struggling with this really uncomfortable issue, we're just going to suppress it and manage it with this pill because oh, you have idiopathic constipation. We don't know why you're constipated.

So, what exactly happens after lab results come back?

Like, we're gonna know what's going on to the best of our ability and then we're going to have to work together to change your lifestyle.  And lifestyle includes dietary exercise, supplements, mental wellness.

It encompasses the entire holistic spectrum.

Can you actually heal people who have chronic GI issues?

Absolutely. I stay away from prescription medications  just because people can become reliant on the reflex medication because they get instant relief and then the GI issue comes up again and they get into this cycle over and over and over and over, and then they're hooked on it and then we have to wean them off of it.

What's the most common reason you see people having GI upset?

Leaky gut. When stool test analyses come back, most of the time it shows leaky gut in America. The reason for this is because of our food, medications. Glyphosate is really the biggest culprit I think, but it all really boils down to wheat. There's a test called the Wheat Zoomer that looks at the various different components at the peptide level of wheat.

I've yet to find one person, out of the hundreds of tests I’ve run, that does not have a sensitivity or elevated antibodies to any one of those numerous components of wheat.  Having antibody levels or any kind of sensitivity to that indicates intestinal permeability, or leaky, gut.

So, we all have a sensitivity to wheat?

Yes. Even if you have a food sensitivity panel that shows you're not sensitive to wheat. Getting deeper at the peptide level, everybody has a sensitivity.

What is your Gu issue playbook? How do you rebalance the body to not have GI distress?

So we address based on the stool analysis, the probiotic, deficiencies, supplementation that they would benefit from. We also put you on prebiotics, fiber. Plus, sodium butyrate and phosphatidylcholine.

Another one. I like to use a product from Design for Health, called GI Revive that has several different components that help basically revive the gut. I also like using ImmunoG PRP for immunoglobulin support.  Immunoglobins are the most common type of antibody in the blood and the other body fluids. Antibodies protect and support your immune system. They help your immune system fight off bacteria.

How is detox incorporated into my GI issue treatment plan?

Typically what causes the leaky gut is toxins, either food or the toxins from environment. And so we want to get rid of that. We're big on cell core Biosciences and using their detox protocols. And so we love their foundational and comprehensive protocols. Step one phase one is about supporting the body for detox and that's, you know, supporting it through the supplementation with folic acids and their patent carbon technology, as well as TECA and biotech and binders.

So we try to support the body's detox pathways so that everything's funnels appropriately through the colon and gets out of your body. So you want to bind them with the biotoxin binder so that they don't linger or dwell in the colon or throughout the body.

How is IV therapy part of my Gut Health Pathway?

Ozone and DMSO is our go-to combination. DMSO is an anti-inflammatory.  It works synergistically as an antimicrobial. It has a wide use of utility for a wide range of ailments as well.

This IV combination takes things an extra step further.   We’ll also include high dose vitamin C once we're in phase two or step two of the pathway.

So, how long does it take before I see results?

Like usually it doesn't take long.  Usually about a month in you’re like, “oh my God, I'm finally more regular or I'm I'm I'm pooping again. Or the diarrhea is gone away. Thank you so much.” Then tweaking the plan as conditions improve, you can see huge improvements.  Once you continue with the protocol, then you get everything back to normal.

Initially when people come and they start feeling better, but then they leave and if they don't change their lifestyle, and then they're right back where they started.

I'm like, okay, well what happened here? They say they stuck with it for X amount of time and then stopped. Like that's why you're back to where you started. Cuz you stopped and well, how long do I have to do this?

Well, I'm telling you at least three to six months. Give us three to six months. I typically say six months. It's kind of like our standard. Okay. We retest at six months to check progress and everything's good, then what's just on a maintenance schedule.

How can Regen IV Wellness help me if I’m not local?

We do offer telemedicine so we can reach anybody around the country or even around the world. The IV therapy is kind of like the nitrous, like the turbo charger to kind of get things healing on that path. But without it, it can take it just, it just takes a little bit longer. And we can always find a local-to-you establishment and provide you the list of IVs that will benefit you and your issues so you can request them at a clinic local to you.

What are some Gut Health life hacks?

Eliminating gluten from the diet is the biggest one. hydration is another one. Aim for your body weight in ounces.  We should be drinking at least half our body weight.  I recommend aiming for your body weight so you can hit half your body weight and the rest is a bonus. Trying to daily detox is also very beneficial. Just getting out and sweating is a big one.
